“Yarovskaya’s documentary film “Women of the Gulag” powerfully told the tragic stories of women – the last survivors of the Gulag, a brutal system of terror that wreaked havoc on the Soviet population during Stalin’s regime. In “Lyuba’s Hope” (currently in progress), she fast forwards almost a century to women embarking on the valiant effort of women of the Russian democratic opposition to replace Putin’s “power vertical” with a democratic Russia. Don’t miss this enlightening event showcasing the resilience of women in the face of historical adversity and the ongoing pursuit of democracy in Russia.”
